Data, BI and reporting consulting and advisory

Senior expert perspective on data problems, BI projects, reporting, data architecture and decision-making based on key numbers.

I help you understand the situation faster, name the real problem, evaluate options and choose the next step that makes sense from a business, data and organisational perspective.

What you gain from the consultation

  • An independent senior opinion on your data, BI or reporting situation.

  • A recommendation on how I would approach the situation — practically, objectively and with your goals, constraints and decision context in mind.

  • Better distinction whether the issue is mainly in data, reporting, metrics, architecture, assignment, supplier work, process or interpretation.

  • Named risks, weak spots and questions that should not remain hidden before the next decision.

  • A better frame for further discussion with leadership, an internal team or a supplier.

  • A factual view of possible next options, their risks and practical implications.

Forms of cooperation

One-off consultation

Suitable when you need to discuss a specific topic quickly and get an independent expert opinion.

This may include:

  • reviewing the direction of a BI project,

  • consulting on reporting or a dashboard,

  • discussing a data warehouse or data model,

  • preparing for a supplier meeting,

  • analysing a specific data problem,

  • quickly validating whether a planned or already running approach makes sense.

Fee: CZK 7,000 / hour

Typical format: online consultation or in-person meeting depending on the topic.

Project or Problem Consultation

A structured consultation package for situations where a one-off call is not enough, but launching a large project does not yet make sense.

Across three sessions, we go through the problem, context, risks, solution options and my expert opinion on a suitable approach for your situation.

Useful for:

  • starting a new BI or data project,

  • reviewing a planned assignment,

  • evaluating a supplier proposal,

  • clarifying causes of reporting issues,

  • correcting the direction of a project already in progress,

  • deciding between several solution options,

  • preparing the next project phase.

Package fee: CZK 70,000 / 12 hours / 3 sessions

The output is usually a concise situation summary, a practical view of possible solutions, key risks, recommended priorities or questions that should be verified before the next decision.

External Data Advisor

A regular senior advisory role for companies that want to have an experienced data expert available for decisions about data, BI, reporting and data projects.

This form of cooperation is suitable when you need to consult direction on an ongoing basis, review proposals, participate in selected meetings, connect business and IT perspectives or regularly correct the direction of data and BI initiatives.

I typically help to:

  • consult the direction of data and BI projects,

  • review assignments, proposals and decisions,

  • participate in selected management or project meetings,

  • highlight risks in data, metrics, reporting and architecture,

  • support communication between business, IT and suppliers,

  • bring senior data perspective where the internal team does not have it available.

Fee: from CZK 100,000 / month

Typical scope: approximately 1 day per week, equivalent to 32 hours of my work per month.

This is dedicated time and mental capacity reserved for the given month. Unused capacity is not carried over to the following months.

What we can work on together

Reporting and BI

  • meaning and structure of reporting,
  • usability of dashboards,
  • meaning of metrics and KPIs,
  • reporting for leadership,
  • reporting architecture,
  • Power BI and BI governance,
  • connection between reporting and company management.

Data projects

  • preparation of a data or BI project,
  • target solution design,
  • review of assignments,
  • assessment of supplier proposals,
  • data model,
  • analytical layer,
  • step-by-step implementation direction.

Data warehouse and architecture

  • purpose and role of the data warehouse,
  • relationship between source systems, DWH, datamarts and BI,
  • architecture of data flows,
  • data consolidation from multiple systems or companies,
  • long-term sustainability of the solution.

Key numbers and data meaning

  • Revenue, EBITDA, gross margin and other key indicators,
  • different meanings of the same numbers in different parts of the company,
  • trustworthiness of data for decision-making,
  • connection between data, controlling, finance and management,
  • risks caused by unclear metrics.

Teams, suppliers and management

  • communication between business, IT, data teams and suppliers,
  • roles and responsibilities in data projects,
  • quality of supplier proposals,
  • ability of the internal team to deliver and sustain the outcome,
  • prioritisation decisions.

What you get from consulting or advisory

For smaller and well-defined topics, a consultation can directly solve the concrete issue: clarify a reporting question, correct the interpretation of a metric, redirect a dashboard, identify a weakness in a proposal or decide which way to proceed.

For more complex topics, the value is usually faster clarity, a senior opinion and a better direction for the next decision.

After a consultation or advisory cooperation, you typically gain:

  • resolution of concrete partial questions when they are sufficiently well-defined,

  • clearer naming of the topic that needs to be addressed,

  • a better distinction between what matters and what is just background noise,

  • an independent senior view on direction, risks and possible options,

  • an expert opinion on a suitable approach for your situation,

  • questions that should be checked before the next decision,

  • early visibility of risks in data, metrics, architecture or assignments,

  • a better frame for discussion with leadership, IT, controlling, the data team or a supplier.

Depending on the situation, the result may also include a short summary, comments on a proposal, a list of questions to verify or decision support material. These materials are not the goal in themselves. What matters is that the consultation creates real value: solving what can be solved and, for larger topics, making clearer what is worth addressing next.

How cooperation works

1. You briefly describe the situation

A short description of what you are dealing with, the context and why it matters is enough.

2. We agree on a suitable frame

Depending on the topic, we agree whether a one-off consultation, a consultation package or a regular advisory role makes sense.

3. We focus on what matters

In the meetings, we focus on understanding the problem, decision context, risks, solution options and an expert view of a suitable way forward.

4. You get a better basis for decision-making

The result should be better clarity, better named risks and a usable senior opinion you can work with further. The decision remains yours.
